Wcco News at 10

 A 3 year old boy witnessed his dad kill his baby sitter, mom, and little sister at his home in Minneapolis. His 6 year old sister got home from school and found them all. This story shows unusualness, and timeliness.

Amy Scensor was charged with criminal vehicular homicide for hitting a man on the free way a couple weeks ago. She never called the authorities and turned herself in later. This story has prominence because she's the wife of Joe Scensor. It has unusaualness, and timeliness.

The fire in the boundry waters continues to burn. It's going in Superior national park. Fire fighters have been trying all week but the fire keeps going. Governer Dayton will visit up there today. This story has unusualness, and timeliness.


Sgt. Dakota Meyer was awarded the medal of honor yesterday in Washington. He saved 8 people in combat after he was already wounded. This story definetyl has human interest and significance.

LIGHTS

MICROPHONES:
• Unidirectional-Picks up from one direction.-Shaped like a heart.

• Omnidirectional- The microphone on top of cameras is omnidirectional- Better off using a unidirectional camera.

• Cardiod- Shaped like a heart.

• Lav/Lapel Microphone- The mic you clip onto your shirt.

• Boom Microphone- Microphone on a pole. Usually unidirectional.

Take Notes

INTERVIEWING:
• What seven items should you bring with you when you are shooting an interview?
(Clocks Tick Tock Making Heads Pound Loudly)
C       Camera(Makes sure camera is in bag)
T       Tripod (Always use a tripod)
T       Tape    (Make sure the card is in the recorder)
M      Microphone(make sure the microphone is working)
H       Headphones(always have headphones)
P       Power(Make sure the battery is charged)
L       Light(Always need light)

• Shooting into a light source = silhouette (Never shoot into a light source)


• Where do you want your light source? Behind the camera


• On what object should you focus the camera?
Focus on the persons nose. White balance.=hold up a white sheet of paper focus the camera on it.

• No tripod=BAD


• Date and Time=NEVER=splay button


• SP/EP    Sp=standerd play      ep=extended play

• Camera shoots in ___Sp_____________.

• Pre-Roll- You want your camera to roll for 3-5 seconds before the interview


• Post-Roll- Roll 3-5 seconds after.


CAMERA SHOTS:

***BACKGROUND: Have some depth. Interviews should be 6-8 feet from the wall.

• 1 Shot= Middle of the chest to above the head but over the shoulder. Microphones are to be heard not seen.

• 1 Shot with graphic=Middle of the chest to above the head

• 2 Shot=Only for anchors

• CU- Close up

• MS- Medium shot

• LS- Long shot

• ECU- Extreme Close up
Create a series of shots. Shoot all different types of shots.
